Dear Friends, I wanted to share with you this first selection of previously published posts, now read out loud. This is from February 25 (you can read it here), and it’s a kind of mission statement, a snapshot of what I was thinking then and an opportunity now to assess whether America, America is fulfilling its original idea and promise.
There is much that we have witnessed since then, including the accelerating efforts to suppress voters and reject democracy, the expansion of the Big Lie of election fraud, and the refusal of Republicans to support a bipartisan commission to investigate the heinous January 6 attack. It’s a reminder that, in the wake of the Capitol insurrection and its continuing impact, the effort to ensure the survival of our democracy and to fight for justice has become only more urgent and necessary.
