trump's meaning/understanding of law & order is that HE is the law, & those under him will follow HIS orders.

Thank you both for discussing this. I’ll have to go to the source and read the article. It’s difficult to keep on top of everything.

Trump uses to his personal benefit the very processes and procedures he would get rid of if he becomes president again. The rules of law and order would be quashed by Trump and his acolytes.

Trumps ability to totally misconstrue and misrepresent any reality about law and order is based in his Malignant Narcissistic insight = (none. ) He makes things up that are ultimately self serving and have little basis in reality . Police groups that fall for his mistaken bluffery need to look at themselves and what passes for acceptable in their groups.

Are they community centered or bully centered. Trumps rants about law and order frequently have an element of overt abuse in them . That’s a fact . He sees them as an extension of his wants and desires and methods he uses to get them . He is a twisted man. If you are a union that is Trump oriented. Something is wrong .

The media didn't miss this. In an email I just received from the NYT about the SCOTUS hearings today, the conclusion seems to be: The dramatic hearing concerned what many legal experts have always thought was a long-shot defense against the election interference case: that Trump is completely immune from prosecution on the charges because they arose from actions he took while he was president.

While the court did not appear to buy those sweeping claims in their entirety, it did seem interested in the notion that presidents should enjoy some form of immunity.

So, SCOTUS, which 45 helped to shape and often brags of this accomplishment, is about to give 45 another lifeline, saying he is above the law and he is immune from prosecution when committing crimes, whereas others who commit those same crimes would be prosecuted and most likely convicted

@StevenBeschloss, I am needing some political therapy now !!!

If you had started this off by mentioning that Maggie was one of the authors of the piece, that would have been enough.

An “antagonistic relationship toward the police” is more like it.
