Aaah, an American president, a REAL president, in Helsinki actually defending America and democracy. How refreshing!!

Now we can toss the hideous terminology "Finlandization" into the dustbin of history, yes?

“Finland for Dummies” would also be an appropriate title for this article. Thank you.

The crime is the Party of War allowing neighboring countries in Eastern Europe into NATO so America can be the military of last resort. As it is we are funding a forever war against Russia and their friend for life China. Nice? Joe says forever. Can you imagine Canada joining in a pact with China? Would we feel threatened? Gorbachev and Baker had an understanding. We broke it. How refreshing. We are one bomb away from potentially a WW with an aggressive and cornered maniac as an opponent. Nuclear. Nice? The carnival barkers on the Elitist left are thrilled. That be you. War. When does the Dictator Zelenskyy get in? Wake up folks the Party of War is one bomb away, from a war we are obliged to fight.

Do you think it possible for you to make your points without the personal attack? There are plenty of other places for ad hominem attacks, not here.

Sorry if you think I am being too personal. We are talking War here Steven. It is a serious matter and one that is little discussed in the traditional press. If there is something in particular you found personal above let’s discuss it. This is a comment section where many discussions relate to personal experience. No?

I don’t doubt the seriousness. I do think you can save the talk of carnival barker.

You dismiss the inherent paranoia of the Russian mind. Always defensive and thus always aggressive. Their actions inform us that the position the US takes is a correct at this time. Cycles of history teaches us the same. The democrats are also not (historically) the party of war by a long shot.

They are now. Joe’s opponent RFK has clearly pointed this out. The Democratic Party is the Party of War.

The name Kennedy endows no one with wisdom per se. He is neither a prophet OR his uncle returned. And he’s wrong.

Say what you will, but he and his Uncle and father were constitutionally anti War as the Democratic Party once was. The Democrat Party is now the Party of the coastal Elite. The Party of the Elite is now the Party of War. Joe’s Party. One bomb away. I wonder what Franz Ferdinand would think of the entanglements we have tied and obliterated ourselves if he were alive today? Are we ready to send our Gen Z to war? Talk about being triggered. That is on offer every day with our NATO agreement. Insanity.

Perhaps unlike myself you don’t know what nuclear fire drills were like, or stand at a bus stop wondering if you’d live to go home during the Cuban Missile Crisis, so I’ll just say Jack Kennedy was face to face (along with Robert) in telling the Soviet Union - Putin’s very personal poison fantasy - to go F themselves. They’d lived through - and lost a sister and a brother - in WW2. They understood what went wrong when England determined that Hitler would be satisfied with Poland. Biden (and my generation who are the children of veterans of that war) get it.

My father fought in WW2. Battle of the Bulge. Was shot twice and spent a year recuperating. I am 65 this year and know Kennedy’s story well. He walked softly but carried a big stick. We did not like a nuclear power on our border. Either does Russia and Putin. NATO is poking the Bear and it’s larger brother the Chinese. We are tempting fate and stirring up the possibility of war. Indebtedness has weakened our ability to defend ourselves. Kennedy spent 5% of GDP on defense, we don’t even spend 3%. A hot war could cost us 10% like Korea where we spent 11% of GDP.

Finland has ranked the happiest nation in the world for 3 years. Its educational achievements are high, providing free school meals and resulting in little corruption and crime, there is government funded health care , little homelessness, but best of all , a smaller discrepancy between the highest to lowest earners. As is said-Happiness is a place between too little and too much. Suitably apt for the United States is the song, The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. As Finland's leader said, when people live in secure, stable circumstances, it provides for a happy life. Poor America. One congressman is holding up our national security for a stupid political/social reason, and with all going on with trump, we are far from stable. People disliked Bernie Sanders' philosophy , he who advocated all have medicare and EBT holders should be allowed to buy toilet paper. He is remembered only as the cold man with mittens sitting in various places for a joke.

Russia borders on 14 countries. It is interesting that Finland is building a steel wall topped with barbed wire on its 832 mile border to keep out immigrants . Once, Putin sent thousands of Middle Easterners to the check points for harassment . Note trumps desire and call for a wall at Mexican border to keep out immigrants. I suppose Russian immigrants might infiltrate to regain possession, while we know Mexico has no desire to control the US. Nevertheless, the comparison is there.

It is also interesting that when Putin was handed the reigns of power by Yeltsin, he called for the inclusion of Russia into NATO. Probably a ploy by the always KGB man to win popularity. Some believe had NATO policies been implemented and had Russia been given a chance, all might have been different all these years of animosity, and Ukraine war would not have happened. Who knows? Mistakes that govern the world are made by single men throughout history. In more modern times, Lenin, Stalin, Mao,Castro, Netanyahu, Xi. Now, Putin, and trump wants his turn.We were lucky Truman finally fired MacArthur who would have involved us in war with China over Korea. And these men control the lives of our young, send them off to fight and die to satisfy desires of power . NATO policy declares if one member is attacked, others will come to their defense, probably why Ukraine entrance is withheld, although we are doing everything except sending troops. Why can nations not be satisfied with what they have? Why must the US always be looking for new frontiers, always be at the forefront of every world situation? In our own way, we control the world and its outcome. Even our language and money is first and foremost.

It is Russia's history to expand, control its borders. The US wanted during the Revolution, to take control of our border country, Canada. I don't know. The world at this time, seems to be a mess. It is hard to believe in that song, Don't Worry, Be Happy.
