Excellent, Steve. We must push on with the hard work. The future generations depend on our success. Keep pushing.

My sentiments exactly Al! I for one will fight hard to achieve our shared goals and dreams here in this wonderful tainted country of ours.

Steven and his thoughts on paper are my shining beacon on the mountain!

I support Biden running again with Kamala Harris as VP. I can not say that I feel he used her abilities to the most benefit and the gossip mongers had to explode any inner office issues into a negative taint on her. Now that the news is out we know it is only going to get worse. I have already seen posts of do we really want her as president if Biden can not serve his whole term? Hell yes! That would be awesome. But Biden will serve and do well. Biden hasn't 'fixed' all the issues yet but he has done what he could with this GOP dominated House.

On the one hand, we have compassion, competence, enlightenment, literacy, a deep sense of understanding of our place in the world coupled with a vision of how to build towards a better, more just society for all. On the other hand: ignorance, stupidity, arrogance, misogyny, racism, cruelty, superstition and greed.

The difference could not be more stark. And yet the nation is confused about the direction to follow. How is this remotely possible? How is it that a major political party is still genuflecting at the altar of an unintelligent, corrupt, racist, a misogynist of a man who is a rapist by his own boastful admissions, and one who is an acolyte in service of a mass murderer who is out to destroy our best, democratic ideals?

Let me ask why not so much as a single mainstream religious leader has stepped forward to denounce this evil in clear, unequivocal terms. Could it be that these religious leaders are really just politicians in skirts whose real goal is merely to enlarge the numbers of their followers in order to keep the money spigot flowing?

Let me also offer this: the mainstream press is letting us down by pretending to be above the fray, by pretending to be "objective." How is it being objective to refer to Trump as the ex-President, thereby clothing him in the robes of the office he occupied, without simultaneously defining him for what he truly is.

A nation devoted only to the bottom line - rather than to the welfare of its people - is doomed to fail.

Homi, you put forth an excellent analysis. I can only conclude that 'irrational' is a state of mind, for those who virtually worship at the altar of Trump, because he is a false God, exemplified. I am continually disappointed with any media that refer to Trump as the former President, and sometimes even as President. No one has been as much of an embarrassment to the highest office in the land as TFG. Media presenters seem to resign themselves to the atrocity that a defrauder, deceiver, blatant liar and full-blown self-serving narcissist is a candidate for President of the United States. It starts with benign acceptance, and goes from there.

Outstanding commentary on our choice to lead our country. As a Florida resident, I suffer each day from the actions being taken by MAGA-appointed judges to disenfranchise minorities at elections time and limit healthcare availability for women at all times. We have just begun to recover from this dark epoch.

"And freedom [is] no longer a legitimate Republican issue." As Republicans collapse ever more quickly into a fascistic autocracy and Florida becomes the role model for an American form of totalitarianism, we cannot rest. Not even for so much as for a quick breath. Plato: "The people always have some champion whom they set over them and nurse into greatness. ... This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears he is a protector." Donald the Tyrant to a tee.

The predatory nature of the Republican Party is embellished by their bigger-than-life arrogance and their demonstrative low-level intellect and intelligence. We are forewarned! That Kevin McCarthy is the "leader" of the House Republicans is altogether hysterical, but few of us are laughing. McCarthy's debt limit scheme is beyond shameful and disgraceful. Worse is how that exercise puts McCarthy's ignorance naked to the world. President Biden KNOWS the inner-workings where McCarthy is not even a novice. Sun Tzu: "An evil enemy will burn his own nation to the ground to rule over the ashes”.

Fear paves the way to fascism. Republicans pave the way to fear. They are the evil enemy who seek to burn our nation to the ground; to revere the resultant ashes. They will use FEAR, lies, deceptions, disinformation and the bully's whip to assure the destruction of our constitutional democracy. This is WAR.

Joe Biden was not off to a fast, running start for the two years that the Democrats held both houses of Congress. Much due to Manchin and Sinema. But in the last year, he has accomplished much, even with a Republican House and an equally divided Senate. His call for freedom is a fight that has been going on for 70 years, starting with Eisenhower campaigning for McCarthy, not because he believed the Communism rhetoric but to get elected. Nixon ran on segregation to combat George Wallace. Reagan adopted the Falwell radical Christian Moral Majority. Bush 41 went along with Pat Robertson's Christian Coalition which also carried Bush 43, advocating heterosexual, white,Christian males.

So, trump actually just ramped up the loss of freedom to the Nth degree. The Republican Party is not the party of Lincoln. Instead, the American Party became the Know Nothing Party became the Republican Party.

A pretty large segment of the Democrat Party wants a different candidate. After all, , Biden is 80 years old, occasionally makes gaffes, stumbles on AF One steps, (so did trump) sickness and death would mean Harris, etc.

Well, I'm no spring chicken; every September, my daughter puts a sign on the refrigerator-29 AGAIN !

I sometimes forget where I left my glasses or why I went into the kitchen. Doesn't mean I have dementia. I recently had on shoes with slippery soles which caused a slide on a step, and down I went.Bruised kidney. Wasn't age. Was shoe. A friend, 84, rides a bicycle 20 miles a day.

People get sick, die at every age .

Another hold back - son Hunter. Two sons, same tragedy, different outcomes. Hunter a problem. Tax fraud charged, drugs, unfaithful husband, alcoholic, questionable gun purchase, nude selfies, business with Ukraine, China, FBI agents say he receives preferential treatment. laptop emails. I don't know how Father can overcome all that. But Republicans will talk that all up , far and wide.

The number of members of each party are now pretty even. Independents make up the majority. Hopefully, every Dem will vote in 2024--if they can, considering all the interference in the way. I, myself, would vote for a clothes pin if it was the Democrat candidate.

Hopefully, Jean Carroll will do better than Anita Hill.

As to Carlson replacement - artificial intelligence???

PS: The Freedom theme fine except it can also mean all are free to buy guns.

MAGA has gone too far and has lost the narrative about freedom. MAGA won't let people choose what books they read, what healthcare choices they can make; MAGA restricts what words you can say without punishment as seen with Disney and in Montana recently. What's funny, not amusing but curious, is why MAGA voters don't see what a political disaster they have on their hands with their present messaging. Another drubbing at the ballot box might make them wise up.
