Americans define "freedom" as not having to wear a prophylactic mask during a killer global pandemic. Ukrainians are showing us in one horrific scene after another what FREEDOM really means and how much it is worth!
It is a long list of brokenness in our country and in our world. Although we are not obligated to solve all of the problems, we are obligated to ACT to start the process of repairing our world, tikkun olam, in the Jewish faith.
Just my opinion, but I think it is a wrong in our country that both parties have misplaced the needs of education. Democrats emphasize free college and student loan forgiveness. Meanwhile, many graduating high school students must take remedial classes to prepare for higher learning. What about some badly attention needed for grades 1-12? How can we, the United States, function in a world where kids can't find the Pacific Ocean on a map let alone countries of the world, don't know the Civil War from WW II ? Civics, history, geography-pretty much outlier subjects, not a sign for good citizenship.
Republicans, well, used to say, they were against too much government interference in lives. Less government while they meanwhile wish to be it and ruled by an authoritarian nitwit. They were represented by Betsy DeVos who, I doubt, was ever inside a public school, and they are now pushing for more tax payer money to be given for private schools. Wouldn't that be centralized governance, no different from the national one? Would it become like private prisons? Money makers.
I watched a grocery store cashier who is taking college courses and telling people he is taking calculus, pull out his phone calculator to see how much to charge for one item that was 2 for some amount. Foreigners often speak English better than Americans.
We believe teachers are dedicated to our children. Most are. But I have been in attendance in teachers' lunch rooms, listened to the chatter. You would be surprised !
Add to your list the number of states and local school boards that are allowing parents and others to demand that books they do not agree with be removed from the shelves and the classroom. This is happening as we speak in East Tennessee, the location of the McMinn County School Board banning Maus.
It is frightening to see this list of all the upside down problems to our democracy; most that started when Defeated Former Guy came into office.

Yes, we are all waiting for DFG and his accomplices to be charged with something. However, we do not have the evidence nor have we listened to the juries.
Merritt Garland needs to take his time so no one can wriggle out of anything.

That is having a Supreme Court Justice’s wife be a leader in the Insurrection; while Clarence Thomas is sitting in the highest court of the land.
This is the greatest danger to American democracy since the Civil War and it also is severely harming our international security. Such a very grave time and yet so many Americans are either in denial, a fugue state, or even worse.
Soon the Supreme Court will effectively ban abortions in some states,yet they will be allowed in others. The Court has ready ruled that companies have the same rights as people so they can flood the election system with money.
