I commend this Michigan State Senator. However, we have seen what happens to moderate Republicans when they speak out differently from the extremists in their political party. I believe in the 2-party system, as it existed with the late JohnMcCain; but unfortunately the Republican Party is different today. I fear that clear-thinking, moderate-thinking Republicans, such as this Michigan State Senator, will not be heard or permitted to voice their ideas if the current tone of the Republican Party dominates the conversation.

The Michigan Senator is to be commended and fortunately she is in a place where she has a voice and a platform to ridicule the ignorance thrown at her. I can write my notes and letters to editors and rant occasionally on this platform and others, but I see little happening on the national level to curb Trump and his minions, although I have been encouraged by the latest releases showing people in high places being caught telling lies and then trying to cover them up. Maybe we are getting closer to a a campaign to open up the obvious lies and untrue conspiracy theories gurgitated over the past several years by Trump and his ilk that are obviously lies or half-truths. They are beginning to find out that if you tell the truth, you never need to cover up. When lying, you must continually remember the truth because you will trip over the alternative.

Republicans have a fixation on sex. I have a notion that others agree but say nothing. Just as we can't just say something about a man but must preface it with black, so too with the gay or trans descriptions. It used to be the word sissy. Unfortunately, these fellow human beings have always been considered outcasts. They sit alone at the lunch table in school, walk home alone, and are often criticized by their own family. They lose out on jobs and in the past, stayed "in the closet." What does it matter if one's proclivity is attraction to the same sex? Why cannot people mind their own business? Often, it has been discovered, those most against homophobia

and carry on the most, turn out to be gay themselves.

As for GOP policy towards women and abortions, another of their snoopy interests, a Missouri rep now wants to criminally charge anyone who drives a woman to another state to have one . Since when do American citizens need a passport or governmental permission to go from one state to another? Republican minds are caught in a trumpian whirlwind of destruction, lunacy. People are hungry, poor, homeless, in poor health, a nation is crying out for help in a war with a deranged sociopath who, like Genghis Khan, Caesar, Mussolini, Hitler, wants to conquer and rule the world.

Those are issues with which representatives of others should be concerned. Not sex, not women.
