That is a good tight summary, nicely done.

We see so much reporting about the shock of a President being indicted--"The. First. Time. Ever!" For many of us who have watched in horror, misery, outrage and shock as Trump has committed so many percussive blasts progressively to our order, decency, protocols, standards, conventions, rules, policies, laws and finally our institutions, I would argue that we are now inured to the blowback from his actions. We, the people, are no longer shocked by what he has done, or what he will do. He is a man of unusual skills and capacities, who has brought, and will continue to bring, assaults on our democracy for the self-interested purposes of power, greed, revenge, and obliteration of anyone who does not align with him. We are no longer shockable by him.

Our focus and efforts now turn to the strengthening, and to the effective administration and execution, of our government institutions so they may function as they were intended. And to find common cause across the aisle, and across America, to achieve bi-partisanship vision and decisions as often as possible, and to promote these shared visions of a good and kind America that supports the people.

It's not about hate of Donnie- it's about hate of what he's done to this country -the damage his lawlessness and lies has done -the damage that will take years to repair. If ever. He was 100% unqualified to begin with -it's the people blinded by racism and misogyny who followed him blindly & who are responsible for his continued criminal behaviors against our country

Yes! And I think it is so important to continue to express this view moving forward. We must prevent this 'us against them' message that resonates so well with Trump's most ardent supporters. We must share a vision of a united America, with a functioning representative two-party system that is mostly a little left of center, a little right of center--but a whole lotta people hovering around the center on many issues.

REMEMBER, this is not merely a charge against a man paying hush money to a Prostitute. There are about 30 charges coming down in this indictment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCJiDigk9jk

And indictments in the works in other jurisdictions state and federal. If he had one out of decency and him he would be out of the presidential race and deal quietly with his legal issues and leave the country alone to repair.

#15 is critical. If we want to save our democracy.

Great piece, Stephen. Love all of it. I don't think the Don really understands what is about to happen to him, and I don't mean with this law suit. I believe that he believes that the others will falter - but they won't (he actually thought this one would). The two federal probes especially will be very difficult for him to defend because he has already testified against himself to the whole world. In my opinion, it's just a matter of time that the Special Prosecutor gets his ducks in a row, and these cases will be the ones that bring him down. It may be optimistic to think so, but I belief the federal cases may well be the last to indict, but the first to come to a conclusion resulting in convictions, and the beginning of an end to his cult leadership. I do not see anyone with the same level of cunning (as a sociopath) and media savvy to pull off what he has been able to do over the past several years. And, with Fox News facing a great big hit on their credibility because of Dominion and their suit (and I believe that as a result of the judge's decision, they will be required to tell the truth to their listeners), the Don will lose much of his platform at a very critical time. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, his mind is not able to wrap around the fact that he is actually a loser - big time! Ain't that f***ing great?!

Wouldn’t a reasonable response by the court to Florida’s governor’s statement that he will not honor extradition responsibilities regarding Mr Trump be enough to bar Mr Trump from entering Florida if bail is granted? If not, they might was well ROR with no conditions.

Is it at all possible that Judge Merchan will deny bond? 45 has demonstrated over and over again in his demented, hate-filled rants and incitement to violence that it is a real danger to let him out in our society ever again. And can Judge Merchan please take his phone away? I’m waiting for the federal indictments: January 6 and the missing documents.

We can only hope. But I suspect there will be warnings of a potential gag order for Trump, then he’ll be sent off to start inciting violence and lies as soon as he returns to Florida. It’s a question whether the judge will refuse to look away in the coming weeks.
