As despicable as Trump is (and he clearly won that description years ago — hands down), what concerns me even more are the TENS OF MILLIONS of American voters who STILL support him!

WHO on earth could still support him despite the truckloads of evidence that have been compiled against him. How could this happen in America?

I place the blame on 40+ years of unrelenting radical right wing talk radio and TV, which has poisoned the minds of millions - thanks to people like Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich, and the dozens of other hate mongers they have spawned. They and their millions of listeners seem impervious to any “fact- checking”, choosing instead to hold their hands over their ears and repeat Lt drone on about “fake news”. And they continue, unabated, to spew out more disinformation, misinformation and outright lies 24/7.

So whatever happens to Trump, and I sincerely hope it will be absolute disgrace and long prison sentences, those millions of “supporters” will still be out there for us and our children’s children to deal with.

Hang on America! It’s going to be a long, bumpy and painful ride! But we MUST continue to endure and fight back if we want to preserve any semblance of the country we cherish!

By the way, I am retired military veteran who served 22 years to try to prevent what’s happening in 21st century America!

How exactly do people raise children in this atmosphere? Actual seditionists, and TERRORISTS are still members of Congress!!! I mean what do we tell our kids about right and wrong?

We will soon be at a major turning point in our young Democracy’s history. An indictment of Trump will either slowly lead to the air leaking out of the “tire” of the move towards Authoritarianism or embolden that move. We should not take either for granted right now.

It’s been fine by me that the wheels grind, grind, grind. Turn him into dust and let the winds blow him away.

Trump simply has to be indicted for this as well as his several other crimes (anyone remember Jan. 6?). The failure to do so would give the lie to ours being a nation of laws and would undermine democracy beyond repair.

Here's the thing, though--he could be indicted, convicted and sent to jail, and his base would become even MORE fanatical in its support of him. His support won't drop.

He MUST go down. And he MUST be prevented from running again. Perhaps he wouldn't win, but as Chuck says (below), it's the tens of millions of rabid followers that have me really scared. They are now so deluded they think what they do is Christian when it's the antithesis of any philosophy that God is love or that our spirituality is intricately and inseparably connected to our treatment of others. It's positively mad!!! This must start. Garland, honey, find your spine.

Chinese philosopher/Warrior Sun Tzu said, "An evil man will burn his own nation to the ground to rule over the ashes." ...

That has become one of my all-time favorite quotes. It fits Donald J. Trump and his legions of infidels to a tee. What is irksome and angering to me is how this dog-and-pony show simply drags on and on. I have every concern and fear that DJT will walk away scot-free, thumbing his nose at the U.S. in the process. His followers are blinded by some form of celebrity that I simply cannot grasp. I have them in my own family. We simply do not talk about it. After all, how absorbent can a brick wall be? Denial of truth and fact are at the core of the Trump corral.

Yet, those followers cannot be blamed fully or entirely. The FOX hate and disinformation machine has found a way to tap into the darkest of the dark souls. FOX and Newsmax fuel the toxicity found in their ardent and unrepentant followers. If they were to do an honest soul self-check, they would see the error of their ways. Crudely, "That ain't gonna happen." The toxic waste and hate that flows freely from the upper orifices of Trump and his acolytes feeds the appetites of those who are the downtrodden, the down-in-the-mouth, distrusting wounded by their own self-deception. They believe the world is ugly and against them, and Trump simply affirms that belief for them. Yet, as they clamor for some type of salvation or validation, Trump will simply turn his back and walk away laughing in some guttural caustic, primal tone.

Unfortunately, it’s too late for this to do any good. Even if he’s indicted, proceedings will be postponed (or at least endlessly dragged out) during the election season. To the extent there’s any impact it will be to bind Trump’s supporters even more tightly to him. The time to investigate and indict was right after the documents were discovered (and right after Jan 6), and DOJ blew it in an excess of caution.

There is not a doubt in my mind, that when all is said and done, indictments and charges made, that Trump knows now in the back of his mind, he will take this to SCOTUS where his chosen ones sit ready to erase any and all prison charges. He will walk away a free man.

I'm so weary of the wrecking ball the trump era inflicts on the country. The conviction and the sentence will make all the difference because unless he is found guilty on all charges and given a hefty sentence, MAGA will not dissipate, even though the GOP House is showing evidence of entropy.

Yes it would and I hope Merrick Garland has the nerve to do it. He needs to remember that his family came from a place where there were no rights, no laws to support them, extreme prejudice- and they came here and found rights and laws and he rose to become a federal judge and Attorney General of the United States. He needs to make his ancestors proud and make their struggle worth it. Trump is one of the worst human beings ever; his wealth and supposed status kept him out of jail. But no more!

My concern and fear / is that the trial won’t take place until 2024 trump will continue to campaign and perhaps win / and that will shield him from justice - indicted trump - as president is horrible for this country
