Reveling in the pain of others is not just a terrible look, it’s giving up on the promise of America
You hit the mail on the head, Steven. My concern is that those who really need to read/hear this message won’t. Further, it seems baffling that we as a country seem unwilling or unable to find a meaningful solution to our immigration problem. As you mention, it’s not a new problem. We’re a country of smart, talented people. This can’t possibly be outside our ability and imagination to solve.
Another example of Republican sadism is taking place in the Pennsylvania senate race where Oz ( I can't call him doctor ) is making light of and taking advantage of Fetterman's recent stroke, from which he has recovered quite well.
What I find the most egregious and cruel is the way these people were moved from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard and to Washington, D.C. That kind of casual cruelty was a Nazi trademark and given half a chance, I’m convinced Abbott and DeSantis would do it again and again. This is not about a solution, because they don’t have one. This is cruelty for cruelty’s sake, and these immigrants are pawns in this charade.
This to me is the hallmark of the GOP today - cruelty. You can’t prove me wrong…
Lighting someone else's candle doesn't reduce the brightness or shine of your candle. Apparently a value that the far right doesn't understand. An American value, etched on the Statue of Liberty. Lets all strive to reach the highest American ideals and make the world a better place.
It does seem to be what they do best these days. What a farce.
