I noted her as a profile in courage at the time. I deeply disagree with virtually every policy position that she holds, but I do appreciate her integrity regarding the integrity of elections. Too bad more of her brethren don't feel the same. I am really concerned that her party will succeed in installing themselves as our rulers, despite their unpopular policy positions. We really are at risk that Republicans will refuse to acknowledge the outcomes of elections and that it will make a difference. Fight like hell for 2022 and 2024. I never thought I would see the day when nearly every republican in Congress would turn against their country-not that I’m a republican-but that means approximately fifty percent of our elected representatives and senators are deliberately lying to their constituents. And their lies aren’t inconsequential! They are lies that subvert the very heart of our democracy.
All politicians prevaricate from time to time, usually about relatively inconsequential things, but what we’ve been experiencing from republicans during President Obama’s administration and since the former guy’s administration are enormous, extremely consequential, very unethical, extremely subversive lies and quite frankly, these lies to constituents and the American people began to ramp up when Liz Cheney’s father was Vice President.
Nevertheless, Senator Cheney deserves enormous credit for refusing to back down from the truth. In fact when this extremely dark episode of American history is over, Liz Cheney will, and should be, given a lot of credit for saving America.
This one thing she did is good, however, she is for everything I stand against. None of that changed with this bare minimum that she did. Stating that President Biden won, fare and square, and that the former guy is a criminal, are just facts. Apparently, she had a line. Good for her. She was on fox last night and said she would never vote for a Democrat, ever. That tells me that character doesn't matter to her. I think she's setting up her run for President in 2024. Her speech on the floor of the House was the opening salvo towards that. She can run as the "sane" Republican, still standing for everything I stand against. Democrats and the media have an annoying habit of crowning any Republican, who does 1 decent thing, a hero. That is dangerous, in that, while the media and the Democrats are running with that, Republicans are still doing all of the horrible things they do, out of the eye of the public. Everyone is so hungry for "normal" that they will chase it down like a dog, when they see one glimmer of it, only to have to report the following week, that that person, is still indeed, horrible. "Normal" is what got us trump. We need to do much better if we're going to save our country. Every politician must be held accountable for their actions, Democrat and Republican, alike. The media has to get back to doing it's job, instead of pandering to anyone willing to step up to the microphone. So, yes, Liz did a good thing, this week. Let's not let that erase all of the damage her and the GOP have gleefully done to rip us apart.
