I think all Americans need to know exactly what’s going on in this country. Why? Because Russian agents have been here in America for years. Their mission was and still is to stir up anger, hate and dissatisfaction with our government and they’re doing a great job.

for centuries. It’s this: Divide & conquer.
From what I can gather by simply watching several of the many news programs on tv,
interacting with folks on twitter and taking in the dysfunction of Congress, it seems to me that most Americans these days are incredibly naive.
I’m an American born and raised, a boomer born right, smack in the middle of the boomer generation. My parents lived through the depression and WWII. I’m old enough to remember when Soviet Russia
Premier Nikita Khrushchev took off his shoe
while giving a speech, banged on the lectern with it for emphasis and said, “We will bury you!”
I also remember the intense fear I felt as a child during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the front page of the daily newspaper showing us exactly how far the soviet missiles parked in Cuba and aimed at us would go if they were launched, and the ridiculous, regular “duck & cover,” practice drills.
My point is that we had no illusions re
what the U.S.S.R. (now referred to simply as Russia) was about. Today, people in their
forties and fifties have never had to think about Russia as an enemy nation. Their idea of enemy nations is confined to countries in the middle east. All many people remember
is when the wall dividing East & West Germany was torn down during the Reagan administration.
I don’t know if Americans today think the destruction of that wall means all hostilities
between us and Russia ended, but one thing is for sure; Vlad Putin would very much like to bury us and confiscate our wealth. It’s why he had Trump installed as our president in 2017. It’s time for all Americans to wise-up. While many are focused on their fear of too many hispanics coming across our southern border, Putin is measuring for new curtains in the Oval office. If millions of us are unwilling to recognize Russia as an enemy, it must be spelled out repeatedly in very graphic terms. My fear is that even then they won’t pay attention.
Mr. Beschloss, that photo which you showed on December 18, 2020 from Helsinki 2017 tells me everything I need to know. I cannot describe the dark, sinking feeling in my gut and a sense of utter betrayal when I saw that presser live. People who support his BS have no idea how totally different their lives would be (And I mean worse, far worse!) if we were to lose our democracy. Please keep up your vital work.
In my 75 years it's always been Nazis & the Russian government as the bad guys. We had a little glimmer of hope after the USSR crumbled, but that didn't last long. It's rather tiresome, but at least we're well versed in who & what they are. Ready, willing & able to keep fighting them where ever they pop up!

Great article Steven. But the worry for many including many of us outside US is that your country has too many people who want either Putin or a Putin copy running the US.
That that could be even possible is just too shocking to contemplate really and yet it is apparent.
